Vaping has been around for 10 years and more. It has assisted many people to stop smoking but in recent years it has been another method for getting CBD into our systems and there are some great eliquids out there.
I am a sneaky smoker. I have been for years and now it's time to stub the last cigarette out and stop. I've been saying for ages that I should quit, but I know I have the 'hand to mouth' habit - and not necessarily the nicotine. I've stopped before for months at a time, quite regularly. But after a meeting with a consultant at the hospital, he's given me the push I need. I'm back on the vape
So let's go back to our CBD eliquids and why we choose to be different.
Eliquids consist of a diluent (carrier liquid), an additive, and a flavouring. We use MCT as a diluent, CBD and CBG as the additives, with Terpene profiles as the flavouring. Our eliquids are nicotine-free.
We have always looked at the origin of our ingredients and made ethical choices about what type of ingredients we use. We chose Medium Chain Triglycerides - MCT - as a base instead of PG/VG - Polyethylene Glycol (PG or PEG) and Vegetable Glycerine. This is because the next two paragraphs prove that it's not as 'organic' as we'd like it to be if it were in our products.
According to Wikipedia: "Polyethylene glycol is produced by the interaction of ethylene oxide with water, ethylene glycol, or ethylene glycol oligomers. The reaction is catalyzed by acidic or basic catalysts. Ethylene glycol and its oligomers are preferable as a starting material instead of water because they allow the creation of polymers with a low polydispersity (narrow molecular weight distribution). Polymer chain length depends on the ratio of reactants."
And: "Ethylene glycol (IUPAC name: ethane-1,2-diol) is an organic compound with the formula (CH2OH)2. It is mainly used for two purposes, as a raw material in the manufacture of polyester fibers and for antifreeze formulations. It is an odorless, colorless, sweet-tasting, viscous liquid. Ethylene glycol is toxic. Household pets are especially susceptible to ethylene glycol poisoning from vehicle antifreeze leaks."
Our MCT is derived from Coconut oil and not palm oil. It has several ingredients Caproic, Caprylic, Capric, and Lauric acids. We chose pure Caprylic Acid as this is a high-quality liquid for us to be happy about it being used in our eliquid.
Let's move on to the CBD isolate we use in our eliquids. It is 99% pure and sourced from Europe - we have the supplier's lab reports.
Then we have CBG - a fantastic cannabinoid which is a boost to the CBD in the eliquids. Once again, we have the supplier's certificates of analysis on this too.
Many of you may have heard mention of the word 'terpenes'- these create the aromas of plants - herbs and spices etc. Lavender has a linalool terpene to give its aroma. Limonene, present in all citrus fruits. Hops in beer - humulene, and beta-caryophyllene. There are hundreds to choose from with their alpha, beta, delta prefixes too. The terpene profiles of the cannabis plant differ with every strain.
We chose some of the more 'famous' strains in our profiles:
- Granddaddy Purple,
- Gorilla Glue,
- Mango Kush,
- Girl Scout Cookies - Thin Mint, and
Each one has a different aroma, flavour and effect. Terpenes naturally compliment and enhance any cannabinoids present in a product to produce what is known as the "entourage" effect, meaning you get swifter, improved results and a myriad of benefits.
Because Terpenes are quite expensive, we understand that trying them is costly so we've created single tank (2ml) size trial bottles of each profile. Every so often we will announce a new profile so you can try them as we introduce them to you.
